Comedy super star Derek Seguin is touring Canada with his hysterical new show to celebrate his 20th year as a professional joke teller. Derek’s Juno nominated stand-up is always a pure reflection of his dysfunctional life, but naturally seen through his “slightly” twisted looking glass. This show will feature more of his hilarious stories on the challenges of relationships with his girlfriend, his three nearly grown-up children and every-day life in a mixed-up world that he finds peculiar at best. With barely a moment to catch your breath between laughs there is never a dull moment in Derek’s shows and for 20 years audiences have loved him for it, but he loves you more!

One of CBC’s The Debaters’ fan-favorites; people are often surprised at the raw nature of Derek’s stand-up… and how short he is. If you haven’t seen him live before; come out and discover the many hilarious surprises that his in-person shows are renowned for. No subject is off limits and no rabbit hole too deep.

*Please be advised this performance contains frequent use of strong language and is intended for mature audiences.

Hotel California The Original Tribute To The Eagles When The Eagles stopped to catch their breath a few decades ago, having sold over 100 million records, collected six Grammy’s, and enjoyed six #1 albums, Hotel California began a pioneering journey through their history-making music that has taken them around the globe and thrilled hundreds of thousands of Eagles fans. It’s been a journey they could never have imagined back in 1986, but their dedication, unique musical gifts, and an obsessive commitment to doing this legendary music true justice in performance, set them apart from the many Eagles bands that came after them. Hotel California toured relentlessly from the 80’s straight through to today, setting the standard for world-class tribute productions as they went, and sharing stages with the likes of The Doobie Bros., Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gretchen Wilson, REO Speedwagon, and many more. From Japan to Dubai, Toronto to Texas, Hotel California has boldly taken the tribute band where none had gone before them, and changed an industry’s collective mind about how good a “tribute” band could really be.

Steven Truscott was 14 years old in 1959 when he was charged and convicted for the murder of a 12-year old classmate, Lynne Harper. Truscott was sentenced to death, but because of his age, the sentence was commuted to life in prison. He always said he was innocent, but spent ten years in prison. Some 40 years later he was exonerated when he was acquitted of the crime by the Ontario Court of Appeal.

This special Algonquin College Speaker Series will feature an interview with author Julian Sher who wrote a best selling book about the case entitled, ‘Until You Are Dead,’ which is the basis for a new film called ‘Marlene’ which will also be shown at the speaker series. ‘Marlene’ is the story of Steven Truscott’s wife who advocated for her husband’s innocence for many years until his conviction was overturned as a miscarriage of justice.
